Have You Ever Wondered What Life Would Be Like If We Lived Forever?

Introduce the book.
This book is about how Maui defied the Goddess of Death. It is written by Peter Gossage.

Tell about the book, but don’t give away the ending!
This book is all started when Maui wondered what would happen if everyone could live forever. He decided to try to reach the heart of the Goddess of Death but then the Piwakawaka laughed out loud because of the way Maui wriggled his feet. Then the Goddess of Death woke up but then something else happened and caused Maui to have a blackout.

Tell about your favourite part of the book or make a connection.
My favourite part was when Maui had the blackout because he met all the Gods.

Give a recommendation (e.g., If you like…, you will love this book or I recommend this book to anyone who likes…).

I recommend this book to anyone who likes stories of Maui. If you like this story, you should also read another title called ‘Maui slowed the sun’.

Go Pikachu!

Introduce the book.
The book is called Celebi Rescue. The story was based on a Pokemon episode. It was adapted by Tracey West. Pokemon is a TV show that has many creatures that are used for battling.

Tell about the book, but don’t give away the ending!
Ash, Brock, May and Max were on the way to the Battle Pike. May wanted to bike but the cycling center was closed. Officer Jenny told Ash and the group to go on a detour. But then, Ash’s yellow Pikachu runs away. Ash and the group follows Pikachu until they were stopped by a Pokemon Ranger named Solana. She helped the group to find Pikachu. On the way, there were a lot of vines that Celebi has made. The longer they walked through the forest, the thicker the vines get. Then they found Pikachu, looking after Celebi. The gang helped Celebi but Team Rocket came and tried to snatch Pikachu.

Tell about your favourite part of the book or make a connection.
My favourite part was when Solana grabbed out her pad and borrowed the Pokemon by circling the stick. The more Solana circled the stick, the thicker the circles around the Pokemon becomes.

Give a recommendation (e.g., If you like…, you will love this book or I recommend this book to anyone who likes…).

If you like small chapter books, you will love this book. This book is recommended for kids who loves Pokemon.

WALT understand the books I read. I can do this when I write the plot of the story in my own words.

September 5, 2014

Dear Mum,

Do you know me? I am your daughter,
Thank you for packing food and water.

For you, the one who gave birth to me,
Me being your first child, I feel special.

You brought me to school in 2008,
But I still need you, ‘cause sometimes I come late.

Mum, you are the greatest, the best of them all,
You taught me how to stand up, when I learned how to crawl.

I’m almost as tall as you mum, I love you from dawn til dusk,
I need you everyday, everyday is a must!

WALT show appreciation for those around us.
I know this when I write a thank you letter for my parents in my own words.
