The Story of Room 5

In Room 5 we have learnt a lot so Elaine and I wanted to make a song about Room 5. It is a parody of "The Story of My Life" by One Direction. This is our song about Room 5.

Written in these walls are stories I have understand. We use our chromebooks to learn but it stays right here full for days. My teacher told me in the morning she’ll miss us in the end, we learned a lot the whole year but we will remember these words.

And I’ll be gone, gone tonight, flowers were grown and pictures were drawn. We learned a lot from Term 1 to Term 4, with a lot in between.

Chorus: The story of Room 5, we learn a lot. We learn too much from the first day of school, oh wow, and life is perfect. (The story of, the story of.) The story of Room 5, we had such fun, with our teacher Mrs Richardson, we’re never done, oh yeah. The story of Room 5. (The story of, the story of)

Written in these walls is the learning from Term 3 and 4. We are almost finish with our learning but we still want to learn more. We made our own stall and learn about stars and space. We like to learn more but our learning stays in place.

And I’ll be gone, gone tonight, we bought stuff and we raced more and more.

(The story of, the story of.)

Chromebook Reflection

Question:
How has having a chromebook, connected to the internet, helped my learning this year?

Having a chromebook has helped my learning this year because we can research faster and easier. Chromebooks are similar to a bunch of books from the library, but netbooks are better because you can type a few keywords and you can find the answer. It helps us because we can learn new things. Another reason why chromebbooks has helped my learning this year is because we can share our work to the whole wide world. It helps us because people can comment on our work and we can improve on what they said. My favourite thing we did with our chromebooks is Google Maps. We made one about our blog posts. It is my favourite thing we did on our chromebooks because it helps us to know what blog post links which country/city.

My Face-a-mazing Persuasive Text About Facebook

WALT persuade people on our view of Facebook for people under 13. I know I have persuaded people on our view of Facebook by making a persuasive text and persuaded somebody. This is my persuasive text of my side of the argument about Facebook for little kids:

I truly, truly, truly agree that Facebook for children under 13 is bad.

The first reason why Facebook is bad is because older people might say bad words to you. Would you want people to swear at you? I believe that if people are swearing at you so much, you might start swearing to other people. 5% of the words people speak each day are swear words. Swearing is bad, swearing is disagreeable, swearing is unpleasant, which means swearing is bad for little kids.

The second reason why Facebook is bad for little children is because you might not be Cybersmart. Cybersmart means you don’t share private things about you. Do you want strangers to visit your house? Most people are bad guys so if they go to your house, they might steal all your stuff! I believe people don’t use Cybersmart on Facebook. Cybersmart is good for everyone that uses computer.

The final reason why Facebook is bad for little children is because big people might bully you. That means you might try to suicide yourself because of your uniqueness. Big people might say you’re too small for Facebook. Do you want big people to tease you, a lot? Teasing is bad, teasing makes us sad, teasing makes us mad. I agree that adults always annoy you because some Facebook members are bullies. Nearly 43% of kids have been bullied online.

Now we know why Facebook is bad for little children. Facebook has swearing, Facebook is not Cybersmart, Facebook is bullying.

    Freddie Fletcher
    Fletchers Family Food Factories
    Auckland                                                                                                                                    29/08/13

    Dear Freddie,

I believe that Fletchers Family Food Factories is fantastic for our school.

Building a factory on our courts would be great because they will give us a contest to create a new playground for Room 4 and 5. We don't need to pay for it. It will have a wooden castle, slides, bridges and other obstacles. Without the playground, we wouldn't exercise and we wouldn't lose weight. Do you want to design the new playground? Designing the playground is awesome, playing in the playground is fun, playing in the playground makes us fit.

Another reason why building a factory on our courts is great because they will give us CCTV. Without CCTV, thieves will steal our things. CCTV is a security camera that has a TV to see if thieves are about to steal our school property. Would you want your things to be stolen? You would be sad and you'll get told off from the teacher. CCTV is cool, CCTV is great, CCTV is the best camera ever!

The final reason why building a factory on the top court is great because there is going to be light traffic.  There is going to be less cars which makes less smoke and less noise. There is going to be a small car park replacing the old playground replacing the bottom court. Would you like the noise level the heavy traffic makes? It will distract your learning your playtime, and your other important learning.  Less cars, less smoke, less noise.

If we have a factory, we can have a new park for Room 4 and 5, we can have the best security camera and there is going to be less traffic. Fletchers Family Food Factories is fantastic on our courts.

    Yours Faithfully,
    Greshka

Do you know what sport we are playing this term? Room Five and I played AFL yesterday, on the field. Our coach was Jereum. We played lots of fun games. We were going to learn lots of new skills. We changed into our P.E clothes for the game.

First, we played a warm up game called Continuous Tag. All of us were the taggers and we had to tag everyone! When we tagged someone, we had to sit down on the grass. When the person who tagged you was down, you can get up and tag anyone who is up and running. I tagged lots of people and some people tagged me. Then the game was finished.

Next, we learned a new skill called Drop Punt. There were four tips to achieve the skill. The four tips were laces away from faces, the cross pointing the sky and the ground, hands on lines, and while we are kicking, our shoes are pointing to the front. We had to go in partners to do this. I was with Celeste. She kicks more better than me and I catch it.

Finally, we played a game which had two islands, separated with a river in between, and fighting in a battle. We were split into two teams. Our partners was in the other team. We had to kick two footballs to the other island so that the people in the other team can't get it above their heads. I got lots of turns and I got points for my team. It was a tie between both teams because we won in round one and the other team won on the other round. Then we were changed back into our school uniform.

    Spectacular Sea Creature Facts

WALT gather ideas using different sources of information. We had to find interesting facts about the sea creatures. Here are some me and Gabby found:

    1. Do you know that the anemone can sting tiny sea creatures and push them towards its mouth.
    2. Limpets, barnacles and mussels can grow shells and attach themselves to rocks.
    3. A hermit crab’s hard shell protects the crab’s soft body.
    4. Do you know a blue whale is longer than a swimming pool and heavier than three large lorries.
    5. The male humpback whales growl and whistle so loudly that they could be heard by other whales many kilometres away.
    6. Humpback whales live in warm sea in Winter, but in Summer they swim near the North or South Pole where there is more food for them in the cold water.
    7. Grey whales travel very long distances every year, they swim thousands of kilometres, from near the North Pole to Coast of Mexico, to have their babies.
    8. Sperm whales could dive more than a kilometre deep and stay underwater for more than a hour.
    9. Lobsters are excellent swimmers and they use their fanned tails to move forward and backwards.
    10. The starfish turns its stomach inside out and brings it out through its mouth. This wraps its stomach around  the food and pulls it back inside after the food is digested.
    11. The biggest starfish is the sunflower star, it has more than 26 arms.
    12. Catfish  have sharp spines in their fins. These spines stick into any creature  that handles or tries to swallow the catfish.
    13. A fish has a balloon inside them to make them float.

    A Awesome Abundance Poster.

WALT experience the effects of water scarcity. Mrs. Richardson told us some words we didn't know. The names were scarcity, abundance, resources, and physical. We had to pick one word to make a poster about the meaning of the word using PiZAp. This is a poster about the meaning of abundance.

    My Brilliant Baptism Poster

WALT identify the different symbols used in Baptism.
Mrs. Richardsom showed us all the symbols of Baptism. We talked about what they all meant and how they are used in a Baptism ceremony. We had to pick a symbol. Then we went on Sumo Paint and created our own picture.
This is a picture of the candle:

My Unforgettable Goals for Term Two

WALT write goals to help us measure our learning. We had to specific goals for us to remember for this term and here are my goals:

My goal for writing is to try to write long words I can’t spell. This is important because I can use that word for any other sentence to make my story more interesting. The steps I will take to achieve my goal will be asking my friends and family, getting tested by my parents and my spelling buddy, I could also look in a dictionary.

My goal for Reading is to understand what I read. This is important because I can answer questions in Reading without looking in the book, to pronounce new words I don’t know, and to learn more about something. The steps I will take to achieve my goal will be reading the story closely, looking at the words, and think of pictures in my head. I could also talk to a buddy or my family and teach them something.

My goal for Maths is to learn my 6, 7, and 8 times table and division. This is important because I can answer faster in my Basic Facts test. The steps I will take to achieve my goal will be asking my parents and friends, practicing, and getting tested with my parents and a buddy.

    My Positive Digital Footprint

We have been learning to create a positive digital footprint. We had to look in the history from last Thursday on 9.15 to last Friday on 9.15 to make it. I also copied the signs for the websites with labels.  This is what I created:

    Palm Sunday

We are learning about Palm Sunday. It is a time when Jesus is called as Messiah and rides on a donkey with his disciples beside him. He was like a celebrity in Israel. This is a newspaper I made a newspaper about Jesus coming to Nazareth:

    Saint Patrick's Day

The whole celebration started with a wonderful Mass led by Father Michael. Everyone enjoyed singing beautiful songs, and the priest gave a great homily.

    My Class Dojo Reflection

    \

Class Dojo is a site where you can get points every time you do something good. When we show bad behavior, we get negative points. Our teacher gives us a secret code to change our cute little alien avatars. This week, I am fantastic at relating to others. Next week, I will try to do my best to never disrespect the teacher. This is my progress this week:
